This picture of “The Mermaid” is by the Pre-Raphaelite artist John William Waterhouse. Whilst the painting was a gift to the Royal Academy of Arts in London, it is noteworthy that the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery has the largest Pre-Raphaelite collection the world.
